Yisra’el’s weary wanderings were over, and the promised rest
was attained. No more moving tents, fiery serpents, fierce Amalakites and harsh wildernesses. The Yisra’elites had arrived
at the land that flowed with milk and honey, and they ate of the old corn of that land that year. Perhaps this year beloved
Brother in Messiah, this may be your case or mine. The prospect is joyful, and if faith is actively exercised, it will yield
pure delight. To be with Yahushua in the rest that remains for the people of Yahweh is a cheering hope indeed and to expect
this glory so soon is a double bliss. Unbelief shudders at the Yarden, which still rolls between us and the good land, but
let us rest assured that we have already experienced more ills than death at its worse can cause us. Let us banish every fearful
thought and rejoice with exceeding great joy in the prospect that in this year we will begin to “always be with the
Master” 1 Thess. (Tas Aleph) 4:17. Many this year will remain on earth to do service for their Messiah. If this is our
lot, there is no reason that the New Years text should not still be true. “For we who have believed do enter into that
rest.” Heb. (Ib’rim) 4:3. The set-apart spirit is our guarantee of our inheritance. He gives us “Glory begun
below”. Those who are in Heaven are secure; likewise we on earth are kept safe in Messiah Yahushua. There they have
triumphed over their enemies; here we have our victories, too. Celestial spirits enjoy communion with Yahweh; this privilege
is not denied to us. They rest in His Love; we have perfect peace in Him; they sing His praise; it is our privilege to bless
Him, too. We will this year gather celestial fruits on earthly ground, where faith and hope have made the desert like the
garden of Yahweh. In the past man ate the manna from Heaven; why not now? Oh for grace to feed on Yahushua and to eat of the
fruit of the land of Kena’an this year!
